The World’s Thinnest Notebook Now Comes to India
At the latest MacWorld show in San Francisco, Apple unveiled its unbelievably thin MacBook Air Notebook, which features a 13.3-inch Led-backlit widescreen display, measures only 0.16-inches and is just 0.76-inches in height. The notebook has now reached the Indian shores.
At a grand press event held in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, Apple announced the availability of the MacBook Air in India amidst immense lights, camera and action of course! Apple aptly describes the new product as a “Thinnovation” (thin+innovation). I was absolutely awe struck when I had an up, close and personal tryst with the MacBook Air. As I had mentioned in my earlier posts, this laptop literally makes anorexia look healthy. The key features and specs of the Apple MacBook Air are as below:

· 1.6 GHz or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
· 800 MHz front-side bus

The latest MacBook Air incorporates Leopard OS. Leopard has rolled out Time Machine – a new easy way to automatically back up everything on a Mac; a revamped Finder that allows users to quickly browse and share files between several Macs; QuickLook – a new innovative way to immediately view files without opening an application; Spaces – an intuitive new feature which is used to create groups of applications and rapidly switch between them; a new desktop with Stacks which is a new way to effortlessly access files from the Dock; along with major improvements to Mail and iChat. In addition, Mac members can use the new Back to My Mac feature to browse and access files on their home system from a MacBook Air over the web while on-the-go.
The newly launched MacBook Air will be shipping in the Indian market in the next two weeks’ time via Apple authorized resellers and Apple authorized dealers. The uber-thin notebook will be priced at Rs. 96,100. In addition, consumers have the option of purchasing the companion MacBook Air SuperDrive, which is a compact external drive developer for MacBook Air, at only Rs. 5,500.
But that’s not all that Apple introduced in India today, we will be reporting about the next product just after a slight breather and perhaps after drinking a cup of coffee with some cheese sandwiches.
